The Options dialog

Open with Extras → Options…. Settings apply as they are changed; press Close to close the dialog.

The dialog has five tabs. Colors holds three sub-tabs of its own, which is why the list below is shorter than it looks in the window.

General

The program itself, in four groups: Program (Preferred language (requires restart):, Send anonymous error reports), Display (Display coordinates in format:, Display measures in the system of units:, Display times with timezone:), Numbering (Number positions with pattern:, Start numbering with first position of:) and Columbus V-1000 for that logger's timezone handling. Changing the language needs a restart to take effect.

Map

Which map is drawn and how it behaves: Map view: with its Engine, Show all positions on map after loading:, Center map to selected positions after zooming:, Show coordinates at mouse position:, Show description for waypoints:, Google Maps Server: and Fix map for China:. The two offline-data locations live here as well — Path to map data and Path to theme data, each empty for the default. See Editing positions on the map.

Colors

How the lines are drawn, in three sub-tabs: Route (Route color:, Route line width:), Track (Track color:, Track line width:) and Waypoint (Waypoint color:).

Routing

How routes are calculated: Routing service: with its Engine, Path to routing data (empty for the default), Plan routes for: and the avoid-toggles Avoid motorways for routes:, Avoid tolls for routes:, Avoid ferries for routes:, Avoid bridges for routes: and Avoid tunnels for routes:.

Paths and Services

The remaining services, in four groups: Elevation (Elevation service:, Path to elevation data), Geocoding (Geocoding service:), GPSBabel (Path to external GPSBabel — empty uses the internal version) and API Keys (Google Maps API Key, Mapbox Access Token, Thunderforest API Key, Geonames Username), each of which unlocks a service. Where the files go

The four path settings — Path to map data and Path to theme data on the Map tab, Path to routing data on the Routing tab, Path to elevation data on Paths and Services — all mean the same thing: leave them empty to use the default location. Downloads triggered by those services show up in Downloads.
