Sygic: file formats and how to transfer routes
The Sygic navigation app does not load the POI text file directly. Third-party POI converter tools turn it into Sygic's own .upi/.rupi database, which the app's custom POI import reads together with a same-named .bmp icon.
Formats Sygic reads
| Format | Extension | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Sygic POI (recommended) | .txt | Custom POI text files, to be turned into Sygic's own POI database format. |
Which format to pick
RouteConverter writes the Unicode variant of the Sygic POI text format. The ASCII variant can be read but not written.
How to get a route onto Sygic
- Open the route, track or POI file in RouteConverter via File → Open.
- Pick Sygic POI Unicode in the Save as dropdown.
- Save it via File → Save as. Run the saved file through a Sygic POI converter, then import the result with the app's custom POI import. Use the vendor's documentation for the target folder.
