CoPilot: file formats and how to transfer routes

CoPilot is professional fleet and trucking navigation software. It accounts for a truck's height, weight, axle count and load type when routing, and reads trips as TRP files.

Formats CoPilot reads

Format Extension Use
CoPilot (recommended) .trp Trips (TRP) for CoPilot 6 to 9, the fleet and trucking navigation software.

Which format to pick

Pick the entry that matches the installed CoPilot generation, 6 through 9. CoPilot 9 files are UTF-16; versions 6 to 8 are plain text.

How to get a route onto CoPilot

  1. Open the route, track or POI file in RouteConverter via File → Open.
  2. Pick CoPilot 9 in the Save as dropdown.
  3. Save it via File → Save as. Copy the saved file to the device or into the CoPilot data folder, as the vendor's documentation describes for the version.
