Before you start
Java 21
RouteConverter 3.5 and later require Java 21. The Windows and macOS downloads and the Debian package bundle a Java runtime, for stable and prerelease versions alike. Only the Linux .jar and the command-line .jar need a separately installed Java 21; I'd recommend a 64-bit JRE from Adoptium that fits your operating system.
macOS: opening it the first time
RouteConverter requires macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later.
macOS ships an anti-malware feature called Gatekeeper. It stops RouteConverter from running directly after a download because RouteConverter is not in the Mac App Store and is not notarized by Apple. Please follow this procedure (more details):
- double-click RouteConverter (macOS will refuse to open it and show a warning)
- open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway next to the RouteConverter notice
- click Open when the confirmation dialog reappears
You only have to do this once for each new RouteConverter version.
Starting RouteConverter
You don't have to install anything. Just double-click the file you downloaded. If a ZIP extractor like WinZip or PowerArchiver starts instead, please have a look at the FAQ.
Something is not working
If a function is not working as expected, please try the latest prerelease. If the error still occurs, please report it.
